The carrier perspective

Carrier feedback.
Results that matter.

Choosing a CDL recruiting partner means understanding the people behind the work and how hiring progress will be measured. Read a carrier's experience with CDL Agency, then see the questions to bring to your recruiting conversation.

Evaluate the work

What should recruiting results tell you?

Use consistent definitions when comparing recruiting options. A useful conversation connects candidate quality, starts, cost, and retention to your fleet's actual needs.

01

Qualified candidates

Start with your hiring requirements: CDL experience, equipment, routes, endorsements, and home time. Count candidates who meet those requirements and want the actual job.

Ask: Which hiring requirements did each candidate meet?

02

Drivers who start

An application, interview, or scheduled orientation is a step toward a hire. Track those stages separately, then confirm starts with your team within a defined reporting period.

Ask: How many drivers actually started during this period?

03

Cost per start

Compare costs on the same basis. Identify advertising spend and recruiting fees separately, then divide the relevant total by confirmed starts for that period.

Ask: Does this figure include advertising and recruiting fees?

04

Retention at an agreed checkpoint

Agree on the follow-up period before comparing results. Only include drivers who have had time to reach that checkpoint. Record whether each is still with the carrier, and review the reasons when a placement ends early.

Ask: Of the drivers eligible for this checkpoint, how many stayed?

Clear responsibilities

Know how the relationship works.

Our weekly recruiting service brings together ad campaigns, a recruiting pipeline, dedicated recruiters, and regular strategy calls. Reporting includes cost per lead, cost per hire, source attribution, and time to fill.

Pay-per-driver recruiting offers a different fee structure for carriers filling individual seats. Compare the service scope and agree on the terms that fit your hiring needs.

Bring these questions to your first call

  • Who sources candidates, contacts them, and follows up on applications?
  • What screening does the recruiter complete, and what does our safety team handle?
  • How will we review candidate progress and confirm actual starts?
  • When are fees due, what is included, and what happens if a driver leaves?
